Binge Planting

Most of us know what it means to binge study.  You know...wait, wait, wait....STUDY ALL NIGHT!!

You females who have dieted for a special event know what it's like to binge eat.  Starve, starve, starve...look fabulous in that dress....EAT ALL NIGHT!!!

My kids are about to call the "Planters Anonymous" hot line, as I appear to have a planting problem!!  I start as soon as I can get my rear out there & stop when I can no longer see my shovel for the darkness.

What would you do when faced with this.......

I blame my friend and loyal customer, Ginny.  She planted & grew all my seeds in her greenhouse.  If she wouldn't have such a green thumb, my kids wouldn't have as much to complain about.

Thanks a lot, Ginny.

When I'm finished binge planting I suspect I will begin binge weeding and eventually binge harvesting.

Yep, that's Ginny's fault too.

My New Favorite Color

After looking at BROWN for the last few months, my potatoes have sprouted up with beautiful, GREEN plants!!!
I put these together mid-February with a few of those sprouted spuds from my storage room. I was hoping my potatoes from last year would store until Good Friday, when I planned to plant them.  Alas, I discovered very sprouted potatoes in January.  Plan B was born.

These smart pots started in my south window and were moved outside in March.  Too early.  These little fighters made it through three frosts and last weekend's snow.  The potatoes eventually harvested from these bags might not be the biggest or greatest in number, but I can almost guarantee they will be the earliest harvested potatoes in our area!!

Fiddlestix Farms....crazy, but tasty!!

Don't Preheat the Oven Yet

These potatoes look ready to eat, but they are headed into holes in the ground to create a harvest equaling up to 10 X the amount planted.

I'm a sucker for potatoes.  It's a cheap, easy meal, my kids love them and it's possible that my husband only married me because I make a mean hash brown.

Up until a few years ago, I had NO IDEA potatoes came in a variety of colors...inside and out!!

Well....Merry Christmas to me!!

Start collecting potato recipes.  They are headed your way!!
