Eggs anyone?

Our hens love being outside.  They have an awesome little mobile house that takes them to new parts of the farm every week, but even on the coldest days of the recent winter they were outside pecking around for seeds, bugs and pebbles.  Laying hens' egg production markedly decreases in the winter months.  They need 14-16 hours of light to produce an egg and our shortened winter days don't provide that.  It allows their bodies to rest, lose some feathers, grow some new feathers and prepare to become egg-laying machines when the longer days hit.

Looks like we're there.  Here's yesterday's collection.....
